I do not like to buy a product only to find that it is only available for full use with a subscription. Offers medical assessments of single read outs for 5.00 though. However, If you are that worried, you should be getting either an ambulance, as they are so great at monitoring what is going on and whether you should go straight to hospital, or a GP assessment. I stopped using it after a few days, and have gone back to my free to use BP machine as that shows up irregular heart beat anyway. Mostly, I know what my heart is doing from the symptoms. Breathlessness, a feeling of slight panic as adrenaline is flooding into the system, in advance, and racing/slowing of the heart. When my heart stops, so do I, lol. That is when the dog kicks into action!

The device is GREAT for the first 30 days.. Which coincidently is also your 30 day money back period… BUT after 30 days, AliveCor will cripple your device unless you pay $10 per month extortion fee..

You are not allowed to save any EKG’s to your OWN personal device.. you can only view the last one, provided you didint close it.. Once you exit out of the EKG, its gone forever… NO ability to save historñy!!!

in order to save ANY EKG’s on your device you must pay AliveCor $10 per month..

This is a sham! you pay $100 for a device AND you must pay $10 per month to use it.. They even block taking a screen shot of the EKG!!! Total sham..

Its like saying you can only view the last picture you took with your phone, but if you want to save any pictures to your own devices that you took with that device, you need to pay Google or Apple $10 per month to save photos on your phone.. Ridiculous!!

-EDIT- I wanted to edit my review and provide some good alternative product recommendations. I have been using the ”SonoHealth” EKG monitor for a few months now and I find this a MUCH superior product to the Kardia..

SonoHealth EKG Monitor is a standalone device that does not require a phone to record EKG’s and provides immediate results on the own screen.. It features a rechargeable battery and color screen..

SonoHealth app also allows you store infinite amount of EKG recordings WITHOUT any subscription!! It also support MANY more diagnostic capabilities..

In short – I would NOT recommend Kardia due its shortcomings and would instead recommend an alternative product like SonoHealth!

I liked the product EXCEPT, the security requirements are outrageous!! They require that you allow them access to your phone data, user data and allow them to transfer all that data to the US, even if you try and use the device in another country expect (UE) for some reason? I quickly packed the product back up, cancelled everything online. I figure, I own my phone, I paid for the device, I should be able to keep my data private, its none of their business its my business (PERIOD!).

I bought Kardia Mobile, and by the time, I opened the box, the Return Product time had expired. And the product never worked from get go. I though it might have been the battery that came with the Unit, so I bought a new battery – that didn’t work either. Now I am left with a Product that doesn’t work, cannot return it (Since the return time expired). And when I go to Amazon site to get hold of the vendor, I seem to go round and round, not able to find, to whom I should report my problem,

Once I realized I had a problem with the product, I read the reviews written by other users, only to find out they had also realized that it has limited practical use as they have to keep paying monthly to have the historical data preserved. The disclosure from the manufacturer is not too transparent, about having to pay $10 per month to have the data retained, unless I totally missed the fine print about it. As suggested by the manufacturer, I replaced the battery only to find out that that didn’t help. I would like Amazon to take control of contacting the manufacturer, and have my money returned, and also instruct me as to how I can return the product, postage free. Here are the details about the purchase

Order Placed to buy Alivecor Kardia Mobile ECG for apple. Delivered July 5th 2017, Paid $99.

Since, I have no use for the product, as it is defective, and even if it were to have worked, I am not willing to pay monthly subscription, I need to have my money returned. And I need Amazon to contact the Manufacturer to effect the return of the product.

    Thanks.

This product seemed like a great instrument to add to my cardiac healthcare. However, all the documentation I have read, both on Amazon and on the company’s website, does NOT tell you once you install the application on your phone, that a Cardiologist MUST read the first test before you can access the data. This is not what is advertised – it is advertised that this is a tool you MAY share with your cardiologist and keep track of your rhythm. I am returning it due to the misleading advertising.

This product does exactly what is advertised. I have had an opportunity to compare the reading to a hospital EKG and the results were totally consistent. If you have any concerns about Paroxysmal A Fib and want to be able to check yourself at home, I definitely recommend this product.

I was concerned that in order to keep a history, you would have to pay the $9.99 monthly for a premium membership (the app actually block you from taking a screen shot of your readings), but after the free trial expired, I am still able to hit the ”email my EKG” button and send the reading to myself. I do this, and filter them into a folder that I keep and could show my doctor if asked. They save as PDFs.

They don’t tell you until after you buy it that you have to pay an expensive yearly fee to get the full benefit of the device. If you live in Canada you still have to pay the fee but you don’t get all of the benefits.

I’m torn between a three and four star review.

First of all, this is an amazing device. I was diagnosed with Paroxysmal A Fib and it has been a great help for keeping track of things. It has helped with anxiety related to having A Fib as when you feel funny you can take a reading and find out if you’re in A Fib or not.

However it has some pretty serious issues. First and foremost, there is a monthly fee that is $9.99 American (!) that is above and beyond the cost of the device. This was unwelcome news. You cannot see previous EKG readings unless you pay the monthly fee. You can’t keep track of your readings without it. It is ridiculous. YOU CAN’T EVEN SCREENSHOT the readings to save on your phone, they specifically block the ability to do so! If there was a modest yearly fee I think I would be okay with it but nearly $15 Canadian a month to have access to your EKG readings is insane.

Also, it seems to pick up background frequencies sometimes resulting in wonky readings that can look really freaky.

Overall this is a handy tool if you can afford the monthly fee, otherwise it is a total pain in the butt to try to keep track of the EKG readings. You can email them to yourself but this is a pain.

My sincere hope is that Kardia makes this product more affordable and either eliminates or greatly reduces the monthly fee. When I had the free thirty day trial I was very happy with the device, being able to see your past readings was very cool and very helpful. I could show them to my doctor and it was a really excellent tool. However without the ability to save the EKGs it has become a pain to show EKGs to my doctor. I have to email them one by one as they are taken and then later on print them and bring them to my doctor.

The real issue is that when you download the app you have to agree to let them send you ads on their products and you have to let third parties send additional as well as allow them put put cookies on your device. They say you can opt out at any time but what they don’t tell you is that you have to go to each third party individually to opt out and some do not have an opt out feature, sound transparent? They let you do one click to accept their terms and it takes hours to undo and even then it cannot be completely undone.

Now for the device. It seems to work ok but, if you happen to be one who has a low resting heart rate, below 50, then each time you record your EKG you get an unclassified and they suggest you send it to them or your physician for evaluation, at a cost of course. They seem to sell this device to give third parties a right to collect your data, to sell you their products and to sell you their subscription so you can store and compare your data which seems like that is a part of the reason you buy the product. $120 a year seems like a steep price for such a simple process. Would not recommend this device.
