Since I know how to properly calculate my BMI this doesn’t really bug me a lot but to someone who doesn’t this scale is inaccurate. So I’m a 5’6 woman, my healthy weight range based on height is 118-148. So on this app my BMI is standard, true. But in the weight area I’m in the ”High range”, with standard being from 106-129.6. 106 pounds would put my BMI at 17, a full point below the lowest normal of 18. For someone who was truly trying to lose weight, I would worry about them trying to attain an underweight BMI because the app says ”Oh this is standard!” Besides that it’s fine, I let it sync to my FitBit and use the information there as a more accurate guideline.

I don’t write many reviews but this scale impressed me! This $30 scale works so much better than the over $100 Fitbit scale! I had the Fitbit scale for a few years, it was difficult to set up, kept falling off WiFi, and eventually had an error and kept wearing out batteries. This RENPHO scale was beyond easy to set up, it’s fast and syncs perfectly with the app and Apple Health. Did I mention it’s consistent? Works every time, the Fitbit scale would constantly need resetting and if you stepped on the scale 3 times in a row, you’d get 3 different numbers.

In my option, scales don’t need their own WiFi connection, Bluetooth is easier to set up and faster to sync.

The only suggestion I have for improvement is the mobile app. It was a little clunky, could use a simpler and clearer user interface, but it’s fine once you get the hang of it.

Bottom Line: Get it, for the money it offers great value for basic and advanced home gym/health users.

So I’m fat and wanted to lose weight while in a program that’s a little more advanced than just ”salad & gym”, so I needed a scale that was a little more advanced and gave me more info than just my weight.

***disclaimer*** for those simpletons that think this £32 device will give you the same level of accuracy as a £200 clinical scan at a hospital… that’s cute. Also, the metrics on this device will differ to those of another brand because of different sensing technology and different algorithms used to calculate metrics like body fat %, water % etc. Also, certain physiological metrics (like e.g. bone density) simply cannot be accurately measured without some advanced and expense MRI based technology only found in hospitals***

This scale is fantastic overall – the display is clear easy to read but the real magic is in the accompanying app (I use Android). The app gives several metrics with which to measure your progress – most are very close to the actual figures and good enough for home use – like body fat % etc. I like that the app isn’t one of those cheap & bloody useless Chinese ones that sometimes come with cheap technology, it’s actually properly coded and has an effective functional user interface, even those some features are basic. The app also gives nice graphs showing trends (yes I agree with some reviewers that the graphs and data display are basic and could possibly do with fancy Apple style scaling and manipulation and different colours etc, BUT that to me is irrelevant – I’m here to lose weight and the app as is totally fine and functional, I’m not going to waste a few hours making my graphs have pretty colours etc even if the app could do it). Another nice thing is the app syncs with different fitness devices/services AND it allows you to EXPORT your measurements data to Excel (.csv) format for those geeks who like to plot their own Excel performance graphs.

I like this scale so much I’m getting another one for a family member as a xmas gift.

I am a student of accredited Human Nutrition degree and we use various professional equipment for body composition readings at the university. I have tested this scale against our very expensive bio-impedance scale and they both have pretty similar readings, which only shows that this is a good quality personal body composition scale! Obviously, there will always be differences in results from various body composition methods as the perfect method wasn’t discovered yet, except post mortem tissue analysis! So far, bio-impedance methods are highly accurate and good indicator of where you stand. This scale is very easy to use and the fact that you can connect it to your phone is pretty awesome! The value is also great, I can only recommend!

I bought this scale after a few hours of research and comparison with 200 pound big brand scales doing exactly the same things and it was the best decision I made this year (right after quitting my job)! It’s been my faithful friend and by ‘friend’ I mean it’s never sugar-coated my weight which was fueled the fact that stress has made me into a cookie monster and cookies turn into fat (they don’t tell you that in Sesame Street).
Anyway, I turned to Renpho, installed the app and turned on some Killian Michaels replacing cookies with gallons of water and air (breathing to relieve stress) and I started winning by losing! Renpho really keeps me motivated and I can forgive the fact that it talks to my FitBit behind my back.
Unfortunately, due to a long period of my weighting avoidance (aka holidays) the batteries started leaking and damaged the scale. I could still use it but it wouldn’t tell me all those fancy secrets about fat percentage in my body. So I wrote Energia Team asking for advice. Turns out their advice was ‘Here, this is a brand new scale for you, don’t mention it’ which made me very happy and I definitely felt understood and listened to (unlike in my previous job).
I absolutely adore my Renpho scale. It does what it says in the description and keeps me happy (like my new job). Highly recommended!

It’s really good and pretty accurate, however please note that this does not take it your overall body fat percentage, only for your lower half. To take in overall body fat, you’ll need a scale with hand sensors for the upper body.
However still a good gadget to keep track of progress.

I still can’t believe this scale was only $30! I’m a huge fan of the LoseIt! App and was looking for a Bluetooth scale that would make it quick and easy to track my progress each time without having to open the app and add my weight. Also BMI and body comp stats are something I was looking for in my next scale as well.

What really surprised me about this scale was how easy it was to setup. I’m used to having to go through various Bluetooth pairing processes but once I put the batteries in and created a profile In the RENPHO app it found the scale automatically.

Using the scale is easy when I want to record my weight I just open the RENPHO app and leave my phone on the sink, step on the scale and a few seconds later I’m done!

Because the RENPHO app can write data to Apple Health all my measurements are updated across my phone and LoseIt! can read my weight info!

I also love that the scale works without the app so my husband can weigh himself on it without messing up my measurements. It only records weights to the app when it’s open which is PERFECT for my household.

    Great product, highly recommend!

Loive this scale. Here is the comparison to the tanita (extremely expensive clinic scale) scale.

I bought this to get an accurate view of body composition and have been using the scales for over a year now – not had to replace the battery yet.

These are very accurate and provide detailed analysis via the Bluetooth connected app you can download from the AppStore. The app needs to be running on your phone in order for the scales to be able to send the reading to the app. The scale does however store up to 40 readings.

  13. Gilbert (verified owner)

Nice scale! It seems accurate, since it says the same weight over several tries and it’s great that it syncs easily to my Fitbit app!
You will get all the data once you download the app, but only get the weight displayed on the actual scale.
It will be good to get accurate weights to track my progress, and for just a little more cost than a regular scale.
I keep it in the kitchen as a little added incentive when I go to the fridge…lol.

Received the scale in 2 days. (Prime) Works perfect. There is an app that pairs with it via Bluetooth and that works well. It can only sync to one phone, but in the app you can add several users. So I just store my and my husbands weights on my phone. It is glass, so I’m kinda scared that it will break… but I’m a big girl and it seems sturdy enough.
** I thought it was broken because I couldn’t get it to turn on at first… you have to press on it with your foot to turn on, lift your foot so it reads 00.0, then step on it for 10 seconds to send the info to your phone. **
