Our first one worked for many years, then suddenly started always reading low. (Meaning, it said 96 F when our other thermometer indicated I had a fever.) Changing the battery did not improve this. So we ordered a new one (Feb 2019), but it had the same problem (reads a low, incorrect temperature) right out of the box.
Amazon was helpful and refunded my cash (thank you!) but I would recommend against this product.

This medical thermometer is extremely easy to use, and easy to read. It switches between Celsius and Fahrenheit. The display also lights up in color according to your temp, green indicating normal, yellow indicating a slight fever, and red indicating a higher level fever. This feature makes it great if youre resting in a dark room, or dont have your glasses on and cant make out the actual degrees for some reason.
I would recommend this thermometer, however I am knocking off one star because since the day I purchased the device, when turning it on, it indicates a low battery, when it was a brand new device, in a sealed package: Because of this I can understand other reviewers having problems with their thermometer from day 1. That being said, aside from the low battery indication it has never given me problems outside the VERY VERY rare inaccurate reading, which can happen for a multitude of reasons on any thermometer so I really dont even consider it much.

My husband and I are over 70 and worried about the coronavirus. I ordered this even though it was over priced because we don’t want to go out of the house. We took our temperatures one time and it worked great except for the plastic covers. They tore every time I tried one. Today, we went to take our temperatures again and it said the battery was low and wouldn’t work. I made sure it was turned off the first time we used it. I think we are owed at least a new battery for it. Please consider.

Although this product comes with a battery, it ships inside the device and mine was dead by the time I wanted to use the thermometer for the first time. Not sure when it was assembled but the directions mention 2016. Then I couldn’t find the correct sized battery in Home Depot or Meijer. If you buy this also purchase some 3V, CR1225 silver oxide replacement batteries to go with it.

I ordered two of them because we need one to be working, and we need a backup in case of emergency. Such is the case sometimes with chronic illnesses where temperature has to be carefully monitored.
I’ve decided there’s a reason why 27% of the reviews of this product are in the One Star category. People keep having the same problem. The device stops working. In our case, three weeks. Won’t even turn on anymore.
This is a low quality, poorly made device… OR, we’re getting delivery from an ”old batch” that already has a worn down battery. While the cost is relatively low – $9.50 for one, it makes it not worth the time and expense to ship it back and get a replacement. I’ll just try a different brand.
The manufacturer should address the concerns of an awful lot of people who have had the same problem. My advice to those reading this review is: Don’t buy one of these. Try a different and better reviewed brand.
